Eight Man Utd stars who can talk to clubs in January over a free transfer
Manchester United have eight players who could speak to foreign clubs in January regarding a potential pre-contract agreement. Several of those could sign one-year extensions at Old Trafford to prevent them leaving for free. Express Sport looks at each player whose current deals are coming to an end.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Wan-Bissaka is one of the most high-profile players whose deals expire next summer. United do have the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months until 2025.
They are likely to do so in order to protect his value. The right-back has recently returned to fitness following a hamstring injury.
Victor Lindelof
Lindelof joined United six years ago and is closing in on 250 appearances for the club. When everyone is fit, the Swede is not in Ten Hag’s starting XI.
However, he has played plenty of football this season due to injuries to Raphael Varane and, most notably, Lisandro Martinez. United also have a one-year option in Lindelof’s deal and will likely trigger it.

Anthony Martial
Martial’s time at United could finally be coming to an end. There is an option to extend his deal until 2025 but it may not be something the club takes up.
Injuries have continued to hamper the Frenchman, who has started just four games in all competitions this season. A free transfer may be the best way for both parties to cut ties.
Tom Heaton
United triggered a one-year option in Heaton’s contract in June. The uncertainty over the goalkeeper position saw Erik ten Hag keep the experienced star.
Luton were keen on signing Heaton but the former England international had his move to the Hatters blocked. He is third choice behind Andre Onana and hasn’t played a single minute so far this season, so could seek a move.

Jonny Evans
United surprisingly re-signed Evans on a short-term deal in the summer. They then pinned him down to a one-year contract to bolster their defensive resources.
He has already featured 12 times this season, more than he and Ten Hag would have likely expected. His performances may catch the eye of clubs abroad looking for an experienced defender.
Hannibal Mejbri
Hannibal has played just five times this season following his loan spell at Birmingham last term. He was given the opportunity to start against Galatasaray in the Champions League and Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.
However, he was taken off after 45 and 65 minutes respectively. A lot may depend on whether Ten Hag sees his as a part of his plans in the future.
Shola Shoretire
Youngster Shoretire hasn’t featured in any of Ten Hag’s squads this season. The 19-year-old has been restricted to appearances for the club’s youth sides.
He played 16 times when on loan at Bolton last season. A move away may be best if his route to the first team is blocked at Old Trafford.
Alvaro Fernandez
Left-back Fernandez played for United in pre-season. Some fans wanted to see him given a chance following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
However, he was sent out on loan to Granada instead. He has played nine times for the Spanish side and could earn himself a permanent move elsewhere.
