EA Sports confirm that Mason Greenwood will appear in EAFC 24

Mason Greenwood WILL be reinstated to hit video game EA Sports FC 24 after joining Getafe on loan… with the exiled Man United star having been excluded from two previous versions

  • EA Sports have confirmed that Mason Greenwood will re-appear in EAFC 24
  • Greenwood, who is on loan at Getafe, hasn’t appeared in the game since 2022
  • Rival video game Football Manager also confirmed they will include Greenwood

Mason Greenwood is set to be included in new football video game EA Sports FC 24 when it is released on September 29.

Greenwood, who is on loan at Getafe from Manchester United, was removed from FIFA 22 after he was arrested on January 30, 2022 and hasn’t appeared in the game since.

However, as reported by The Athletic, the 21-year-old will be present in the latest version of the game as he prepares to make his return to football.

A statement from EA Sports read: ‘EA Sports FC 24 authentically reflects the active rosters of teams and clubs in the real world of football. As he is now part of an active roster with Getafe CF, Mason Greenwood will be included in FC 24.’

However, Greenwood won’t appear in the popular Ultimate Team mode because he wasn’t part of an active squad at the time of EA’s cut-off date.

Greenwood hasn’t appeared in the hit video game since he was arrested in January 2022

On the last FIFA update that he appeared in, on January 27, 2022, Greenwood had an overall rating of 79 with 90 potential.

EA said: ‘As Greenwood was not part of an active roster at the time of our cut-off date for final team and player data, he will not appear in Ultimate Team at launch’.

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022. Charges against him, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped on February 2 this year.

United announced in August that Greenwood would leave the club after the conclusion of an internal investigation and he was subsequently loaned to Getafe.

United’s statement read: ‘All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United.

‘It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.

‘Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.’

United issued a statement last month outlining that Greenwood would be leaving the club

Football Manager, another leading video game, confirmed last week that Greenwood will be reinstated to their game.

‘Players or officials serving indefinite suspensions from football, for any reason, are removed from Football Manager at the first opportunity,’ a Sports Interactive spokesperson told The Athletic.

‘When suspensions or playing restrictions are lifted, the player or official will be reinstated in-game at the next scheduled update.’
