Punters have begged Mohamed Salah not to “let them down” as they looked to get rich off the Liverpool forward’s glory.
The Reds took on Fulham on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League, where Liverpool’s 'Egyptian King' was licking his lips at the prospect of getting on the scoresheet. Salah was just one goal shy of 200 Liverpool goals in all competitions, having scored 10 already in the league this season.
And with the 31-year-old in scintillating form, many fans had the same idea of putting a cheeky bet on him scoring at any time – and being booked. The genius bet stems from Salah’s tendency to celebrate big goals by whipping off his shirt.

One hopeful punter took to X to share a picture of his accumulator ahead of the Fulham fixture, along with the caption: “Don’t let us down Mo.” His £20 stake offered a return of £458.18
Before long it was clear that many others had placed the same bet, with one X user writing: “Salah, goal 200 and yellow card pls,” and another tweeting: “Stake your savings on Salah goal and a yellow card on Sunday.”

Salah had scored in every home game of the season thus far for Liverpool in the lead up to the Fulham game. He had also netted two braces at Anfield.
And to give punters even more hope, when Salah scores, he's far more likely to earn a yellow. According to a stat from ESPN, Salah has received just seven yellow cards in his Premier League career, having joined the Reds in 2017.
But astonishingly, four of those bookings have come in shirtless celebrations. Two were against rivals Manchester United and one came against Crystal Palace back in September 2021.
