Darwin Nunez believes he has benefited from stepping away from social media following criticism during the early stages of his Liverpool career.
The Uruguayan forward produced a match-winning display for the Reds in their 2-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday.
Nunez came off the bench to score twice for the Reds, with the 10-man fighting back to earn a dramatic stoppage time victory.
The 24-year-old told Uruguayan outlet Sport 890 that he had previously read opinions about him on social media.
Nunez admitted that reading the opinions had a negative impact on him during a mixed first season at Liverpool following his £85m move from Benfica.

Nunez revealed that he has now stepped away from social media and is only concerned about the opinion of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
‘I used to live watching the [social media] networks, it made me bad,’ Nunez said.
‘They say they keep criticising me, but I don’t see anything, I am working in silence and things are working for me.
‘For me, let them speak what they want, my head is fine.
‘The coach is the one who decides who plays and I respect his opinion.
‘I continue to work in silence, whatever minutes touch me, I will go in, do my job and try to do my best.’
Nunez had scored 15 goals in 42 appearances during his first season at Liverpool, but the price tag led to comparisons to Erling Haaland at Man City, who struck 52 times in all competitions.
The Liverpool forward had been criticised for wasteful finishing during the season, but earned the backing of Klopp.
Nunez enjoyed a superb pre-season ahead of his second year at Anfield, but has only been used from the bench in Liverpool’s opening three matches.
His match-winning display against Newcastle is expected to further his claims to earn a starting spot in Klopp’s side.
