Chelsea’s Todd Boehly poaches Alex Ferguson’s former Man Utd colleague

Todd Boehly has been no stranger to making new signings during his tumultuous reign at Chelsea. His latest additions will take up posts off the pitch, however, including one former Manchester United sponsorship director.
After making 30 new signings since buying the club back in May 2022, the American tycoon is now putting his own stamp on the club behind the scenes. Despite resident of business Tom Glick departing after a year into his job, Casper Stylsvig was among those being sought by Chelsea.
Stylsvig helped to transform AC Milan’s commercial fortunes in recent years and will become the Blues’ new chief revenue officer in November. During his time at San Siro, he worked in a similar role and helped the seven-time European champions turn their economic performance around.
During his first season with the Serie A giants back in 2018-19, the club announced record losses of $159 million. However, by the 2012-22 season, their revenue had risen to a staggering $318 million – equaling a 14% increase on the year before.
Stylsvig will be hoping to have similar success in West London, with his new employers currently going through a transitional period. Moving on from the reign of Roman Abramovich, chairman Boehly and his partners at Clearlake Capital will be hoping for returns on its sizable investment soon.
They have spent over £1billion on transfer deals since they set foot in the door at Stamford Bridge a year ago. On top of that, the owners are said to be assessing their options about a potential revamp of their historic home ground, which may cost in the region of £2bn.
In many ways, Stlysvig will therefore have his work cut out for him at his new club in the coming months and years. One job that is already done for him is the securing of a new shirt sponsor in the form of Infinite Athlete, who have signed a one-year deal worth £40million.

He is not the only addition to Boehly’s background team at the club, with Jason Gannon also coming in as the club’s chief operating officer. He previously served as the managing director of SoFi Stadium, which hosts the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.
Alongside Gannon is Adriel Lares, who has been installed as chief financial officer. He also has experience to call upon, having previously worked at the Californian financial firm Stash.
