Chelsea kit man who fought Diego Costa floors Armando Broja with left hook
Mauricio Pochettino praises Raheem Sterling after Chelsea's win against Luton
Chelsea forward Armando Broja was wiped out after reacting jokingly to a left hook from the Blues’ kit man Billy McCulloch in the club’s dressing room. The long-time staff member was playing a game with the Albanian striker that saw each of them trade blows, but McCulloch was the only one still standing at the end of their bout.
In a video captured by Ben Chilwell and shared on the defender’s Instagram, Broja and McCulloch played a game involving their secret handshake that ended with the 21-year-old first hitting the masseur only for his blow to be quickly returned as the youngster quickly retreated to the floor – jokingly unable to handle the power behind the beloved staff member’s strike.
McCulloch and Chilwell then giggled away as Broja was left on the table holding his right arm, before Broja demanded that the pair set up a boxing match with his caption: “Set up the fight @benchilwell Me vs Billy Blood.”
It is not the first time that McCulloch has been shared on social media to Chelsea’s fans, having taken part in a sparring contest with former striker Diego Costa during pre-season in 2014. In a video shared by ex-captain John Terry, the pair were decked out in traditional boxing attire before squaring up to the feisty forward.

Costa had the kit man laid out on the floor after a left-right combo, but having returned to his feet another staff member jokingly threw in the towel as Costa was declared the victor. “@diegocosta Vs Billy (AKA) Rocky Pre season 2014/15,” Terry wrote as the caption. “After this I knew we would win the league. What a Legend. I’m crying watching this.”
While the kit man, who has also been Chelsea’s masseuse previously, went viral on social media after telling jokes that had football fans cackling. He told Chelsea TV: “What do you call if you cross a football team with a flower seller? Nottingham Florist…”

McCulloch’s high-pitched laugh was perhaps funnier than the joke, before making another about ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. He began: “Petr Cech’s walking down the road, but there’s a block of flats on fire and there’s a woman at the top of the flats with a baby. He sees her and says ‘Throw the baby down I will catch it, I’m Petr Cech, Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper’.
“She says ‘Are you sure?’ and he goes ‘Yeah quick’, as the flames were getting higher, she said ‘Are you sure you are going to catch it?’ She kisses the baby and throws, he catches it, drops it and kicks it out!” As McCulloch mocked a goalkeeper kicking the ball long to his team-mates.
The kit man is clearly adored behind the scenes at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground complex, but it remains to be seen whether or not his boxing match with Broja is set up by Chilwell.
