Arsenal’s loaned-out youngster Matteo Guendouzi is once again in the headlines after netting twice for Marseille on Sunday, continuing his blistering start to the season. The Frenchman has been out of the fold under boss Mikel Arteta for some time, but if his incredible form persists then fans will demand that the Spaniard does what is necessary to bring the midfielder back from Ligue 1.
Guendouzi’s impressive brace from midfield sealed a 4-1 victory as Jorge Sampaoli’s side attempt to stay within touching distance of PSG.
In truth, the 22-year-old’s goals were merely a continuation of his superb performances which have seen him called up to the French senior squad this season.
With three goals and two assists already, the on-loan Gunner is enjoying a career renaissance after being frozen out in north London.
Although Guendouzi has proven himself as a tricky player to handle in the past, Arsenal figures may be forced to sit up and take note of his demands if a return to the Emirates is on the cards.

When embarking on last season’s loan spell with Hertha Berlin, the youngster cited both game time and enjoyment on the pitch as two key factors in his decision making.
“It is not that [my Arsenal career is over], I just really needed to play this year, a new challenge,” he said.
“I am still young, so playing time was the top priority for me. I needed playing time, I needed to play, I needed to enjoy myself on the pitch and that is what I am going to do this year.”
Clearly, if Gunners fans are to see Guendouzi again, he will not be satisfied with a bit-part role under Arteta, particularly with an extra year of experience under his belt.

With France caps and impressive goal contributions now on his CV, it may be a case of bringing him back by any means necessary.
The promise of a more prominent role in the squad would be a start, but a reported option to buy in his Marseille loan deal could deny Arteta the opportunity to satisfy Guendouzi’s demands.
The duo have not always seen eye-to-eye, with the midfielder dropped after a behind-the-scenes altercation on a team trip to Dubai.
Things were made even worse after a spat with Brighton’s Neal Maupay saw Guendouzi narrowly avoid FA charges.
There is clearly a troubled history between player and manager, but at just 22-years-old Guendouzi could have a long and fruitful career at the Emirates.
Luring him back to London could be a tough sell, however, as the Frenchman claims he is currently ‘the happiest he has been since the start of his career’.
William Saliba is also on loan at Marseille from the Gunners, and fans are keeping a close eye on his progress too ahead of his prospective return at the end of the season.
Based on the way they are playing, they could be like two new signings for Arteta, but both will have to be squeezed into a competitive squad to be kept happy.
