Martin Odegaard took part in his first Arsenal training session on Wednesday after sealing his loan move from Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old has joined Mikel Arteta’s side until the end of the season, having grown frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities at Madrid.

He has only made nine appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season, meaning it made sense to leave on loan this month.

Shortly after completing the switch, Odegaard was spotted going through the gears at Arsenal’s London Colney training complex for the very first time on Wednesday afternoon.

Here are five things we learnt from his first session with the Gunners.

Ceballos friendship

In a behind-the-scenes video from Arsenal which gives fans a glimpse of Odegaard’s first day, he can be seen walking out to training with Madrid team-mate Ceballos – who is also on loan at The Emirates.

The Spaniard’s presence will undoubtedly be a huge help as he attempts to settle into life in England.

Good with both feet

Odegaard can then be seen completing a series of drills at London Colney.

In one the Norwegian shows off his impressive use of both feet, which will excite Arsenal fans.

That could suggest he will be capable of operating on both flanks under Arteta, as well as in his natural attacking-midfield position.

Skills that pay the bills

He also displays some eye-catching showboating in the video, juggling the ball before producing a neat around-the-world trick.

That piece of skill won’t help him too much out on the pitch, yet it’s clear the Los Blancos star is blessed with superb technique.

Tierney partnership?

At one stage of the video, Odegaard can be seen exchanging passes with Kieran Tierney before slotting the ball into a miniature goal.

The pair were working together as part of an attacking drill, which could indicate their new recruit will be deployed in front of Tierney on the left flank.

No nickname… yet

The majority of Arsenal players have come up with nicknames for one another, but Odegaard is yet to earn his own label of affection.

Gunners players and staff could be heard referring to him as Martin throughout the video. That is likely to change in time.
