Verstappen and Perez blast Red Bull as rookie knocks out defending champ
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez fumed at Red Bull chiefs after they were knocked out during the second qualifying session at the Singapore Grand Prix. Red Bull have dominated all year but they are struggling to deal with the hot street track.
Rookie Liam Lawson, who is sitting in for the injured Daniel Ricciardo, knocked Verstappen out of the top 10 during the dying seconds of Q2. After his fate was secured, the Dutchman fumed: “I don’t know if you saw that, but that was ****. Shocking, absolutely shocking experience.”
Perez also lost his cool and shouted a series of expletives over the team radio. “Did any words come out that weren’t beeped?” Martin Brundle quipped on Sky Sports.
Both Red Bull drivers were quick to leap out of their cars and storm away in anger. Verstappen had complained about his car during FP3 earlier in the day.
He said: “These upshifts, what the f***? I’m sorry but I cannot drive with these upshifts. What f***ing is this? Unacceptable.”
