Max Verstappen has been eliminated in Q2 of qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix.
The reigning F1 world champion will therefore start Sunday's race in 11th after being knocked out by Liam Lawson in the AlphaTauri. His Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez couldn't do any better and will be two places behind him on the grid.
Verstappen has dominated the season so far, but his unrivalled pace fans had become accustomed to seeing hasn't been on show in Singapore. He also struggled in the three practice sessions, finishing P3, P8 and P4.

He made his frustrations perfectly clear on the team radio in third practice, slamming the Red Bull's issues as "f***ing unacceptable" – and it didn't get any better for him.
He made it through the first part of qualifying as Lance Stroll's high-speed crash brought about a red flag which ended the session early, but he never looked like getting into Q3 – being some way off the pace of the frontrunners.

To add insult to injury for Verstappen, he's also set to be the subject of an investigation by the stewards for impeding after he got in the way of Lawson's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda.
A dramatic qualifying came to a suitably thrilling finish with Carlos Sainz claiming pole position ahead of George Russell, who split the Ferrari's with Charles Leclerc third.
McLaren's Lando Norris will start fourth, with the other Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton fifth. Kevin Magnussen, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon, Niko Hulkenberg, and Lawson rounded out the top 10.
Verstappen will have a lot of work to do to further extend his current winning streak of 10, which is an all-time F1 record. Perez is the only other driver to have claimed a victory this season with two wins to his name.
