Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending Achilles heel injury, his ongoing rehabilitation, and the strange, mysterious power of the mustache were among the topics discussed by the New York Jets quarterback and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on Sunday Night in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The two mustachioed NFL players were caught chatting and giggling on the MetLife Stadium sidelines before the Chiefs’ 23-20 win over the Jets. But despite rampant speculation, details of the conversation were unknown publicly until Kelce’s New Heights podcast dropped Wednesday.

‘We talked a little bit of the stash work, how powerful this thing can be,’ Kelce told brother Jason, a center for the Philadelphia Eagles.

‘I didn’t shoot him a text or anything like that so just wanted to go up to him and tell him how excited [inaudible] was and how bummed out we were he got banged up and needed to get surgery,’ Kelce continued.

‘Watching [HBO docuseries Hard Knocks], it was electric to see what Aaron Rodgers was going to do with that team. Not to say they are not going to be great but having Aaron there was going to be more entertaining for fans of the game, like I am.

‘You hate to see the great ones go down with injury. I went up to him to tell him we were all hurting for him and hopefully he gets healthy quickly,’ Kelce said.

His brother Jason added that he was surprised to see Rodgers walking around so soon after Achilles surgery following his devastating Week 1 injury.

Travis Kelce then provided Jets fans with a bit of optimism, saying the 39-year-old is poised to make a return.

‘I think he is fully on board with getting back – if they can find a way to make the playoffs I am pretty sure he is fully on board with getting back by then,’ Travis Kelce before adding that the two didn’t discuss an exact date for his return.

It is widely expected that Rodgers will not be able to return until the 2024 season.

Rodgers declined to discuss his conversation with Kelce during his weekly appearance on Pat McAfee’s ESPN show, but did make waves by referring to the All-Pro tight end as ‘Mr. Pfizer.’

Kelce is the spokesman for the pharmaceutical giant’s latest COVID vaccine rollout, giving a vaccine skeptic like Rodgers some playful ammunition.

‘Mr. Pfizer’ didn’t address Rodgers’ dig on Wednesday’s podcast, but that’s likely because it was probably recorded on Tuesday, which is a traditional off day for NFL teams scheduled to play on Sunday. Rodgers’ ‘Mr. Pfizer’ comment wasn’t aired until Tuesday afternoon.

Kelce has been seeing more attention these days, not only for his litany of endorsement deals, but because of his budding romance with pop star Taylor Swift, who has attended each of his last two games – both wins.
