Isaiah Simmons dominated the NFL Combine, and Twitter is in awe
If hearing about the legend of Isaiah Simmons — Clemson’s do-everything defender — isn’t enough to leave an impression, then seeing his performance at the NFL Combine on Saturday should do the trick.
Simmons’ storied college career included a national championship and a 29-game winning streak. He lined up at every level for the Tigers’ defense in 2019.
At the Combine, Simmons was measured at 6-4 and 238 pounds. He then put up 39-inch vertical jump and followed it with a 4.39-second 40-yard dash.

Simmons is going to be the fastest player on the field in a lot of his games. These comparisons put into perspective how impressive his Combine performance really was.
His first attempt at the 40 was so good that he didn’t even run a second time.
If Simmons can be compared to anyone, maybe it’s Chargers All-Pro safety Derwin James.

How high up in the draft can he rise? The Lions at No. 3 seems like the earliest, but the Giants are desperate for defensive playmakers and will be at No. 4.
Some mock drafts predict a run on quarterbacks and offensive linemen in the top 10, which would allow the Raiders to scoop him up with the 12th pick.
After Simmons’ performance on Saturday, it seems more likely the Raiders would have to trade the 12th and 19th picks to move up if they want Simmons to be their guy.
