Alabama Crimson Tide receiver John Metchie III will miss the second half of Saturday’s SEC championship game against No. 1 Georgia with a leg injury.
Metchie, a junior from Brampton, Canada, injured his left leg on quarterback Bryce Young’s 14-yard scramble with 56 seconds left in the first half.
Metchie had eight catches for 97 yards with one touchdown in the first half. He was second on the team with 90 catches for 1,045 yards with seven scores coming into Saturday’s game.
The Crimson Tide opened the second half with their fifth score in as many possessions on a 55-yard touchdown to Jameson Williams to open up a 31-17 lead. Williams already had six receptions for 176 yards with two scores against Georgia’s top-ranked defense.
