Wrestling Travel support Connor’s Cure in fight against cancer
A British company taking WWE fans on dream trips to the biggest events is now supporting cancer charity Connor's Cure.
Manchester-based Wrestling Travel creates bespoke packages to WWE pay-per-views including WrestleMania, SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble.
It has announced a partnership with charity fundraising bar crawl ManiaCrawl, ahead of WrestleManiac 36 in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, April 5.
And the renowned travel firm has also revealed for every package it sells for WrestleMania 37 in Los Angeles next year, it will donate £20 to Connor's Cure, to boost the fight against paediatric cancer.
Connor's Cure is named after Connor Michalek, a WWE superfan who tragically died at the age of eight, after a brave battle with medulloblastoma – cancer of the spine and brain.
He captured the hearts and minds of many viewers after meeting Daniel Bryan at a WWE event in 2012, grappling with him backstage, and revealing his self-appointed wrestling nickname, Connor 'The Crusher'.
A video of the encounter went viral and Connor, from Pennsylvania, would meet Bryan at subsequent events in Pittsburgh, before striking up a friendship with ring announcer Justin Roberts at the 2014 Royal Rumble, and being introduced to even more of his heroes.
Footage of him pinning Triple H in the ring surrounded by cheering talent will live long in the memory, as will the emotional scenes when he was filmed celebrating with Bryan at ringside at WrestleMania 30, after his hero won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Wrestling Travel founder Lee McAteer added: "To team up with ManiaCrawl and support Connor's Cure is a dream come true.
"ManiaCrawl is an event we have always loved as fans and Connor's Cure is a tremendous charity that we have wanted to support for a long time. It's truly a dream tag team for Wrestling Travel.
"I am certain that all of our travelling Wrestling Travel fans will love being part of ManiaCrawl and the fact it's raising funds for Connor’s Cure will be something they will all get behind and support.
"We will also be giving out some awesome prizes for the best cosplay and our aim is to raise the most amount of money yet."
