Joanna Jedrzejczyk posts update from hospital after horror hematoma injury

Joanna Jedrzejczyk appeared to be in good spirits as she wasdischarged from hospital after requiring medical attention on a massivehematoma injury sustained during her defeat to Zhang Weili at UFC 248.

The Polish MMA star was involved in what has already beendubbed the greatest women’s UFC fight of all time in Las Vegas on Saturdaynight, losing by split-decision in an epic and punishing back-and-forth brawl.

It was Zhang who emerged victorious and retained her strawweight title, while Jedrzejczyk was barely recognisable due to the huge swelling across her forehead and cheeks.

Jedrzejczyk – and Weili – were taken straight to hospitalafter the bout and, despite the size of the hematoma, she was discharged in theearly hours of Sunday morning with ‘no significant injuries’, according to herteam.

She left hospital appearing to sport a bandage around herhead, while she had earlier uploaded a series of snaps from her hospital bed toInstagram while she was being checked over.

The 32-year-old, whose right eye had turned black and blue and completely closed up, was tucking into an array of delicatessen donuts, saying: ‘Not bad guys, not bad.’

‘They did not go to a press conference, they did not talk to press, they both went straight to the hospital. They need to go home, take time to heal up and everything else before I even mention a fight with either one of them again.’
