Jamie O’Hara has sponsors for sole of his boxing shoes ahead of charity bout

Jamie O’Hara has revealed he will have the soles of his shoes sponsored for his upcoming fight.

The talkSPORT pundit is gearing up for a bout with his friend Kris Boyson at the O2 Arena on April 30. The former Tottenham player has gone through a tremendous transformation ahead of the fight, and even said that he would be sponsoring the bottom of his shoes just like how Mike Tyson’s opponent Julius Francis did in their 2000 heavyweight clash.

“I’ve actually got a sponsor for the soles of my shoes, I swear to god.” O’Hara said on talkSPORT on Monday. Julius Francis famously had the logo of our sister publication The Mirror printed on the soles of his feet. Luckily for the paper, their print was often on show as the Brit was knocked down five times in just four minutes, with Iron Mike claiming a second-round victory.

Speaking about O’Hara’s fight against his personal trainer, the 35-year-old said: “[Boyson] is in good nick. But I am the Andy Ruiz of the card. That’s all that matters, and do you know what, he’s done!”

The former player is set to face off on the undercard to World's Scariest Man Martyn Ford vs Sajad Gharibi – also known as the Iranian Hulk – late next month and the contest will be watched by thousands.

O’Hara spoke exclusively to the Mirror about the rigorous training regime he’s been on. “Shocking, it has been horrible," he said. "It is hard, man. I used to be fit playing football but this is another level. These guys love being punched in the face and it has been very different for me.

"The sparring has also been a real lesson to me, it has been a real wake-up call. When you are standing there and someone is punching you in the face it is a different kettle of fish."
