‘I fought Floyd Mayweather – I told him he’s a d*** for bragging about money’
Ricky Hatton says Floyd Mayweather Jr was a “d***head” for bragging about money.
The Hitman, 44, was constantly goaded by the ‘Moneyman’ ahead of their fight in Las Vegas in December 2007, which ended in devastating defeat for the British boxing hero. In the new ‘Hatton’ documentary on his rise and fall, he said: “It was really, really tough to put up with that d***head. He’d go, ‘Look, I’ve got a big pinkie ring – $250,000. And I’d go, ‘You’re a d**k though.’
“And then he’d go, ‘Look at my wristwatch, I’ve got $300,000 on my wrist here’. And I’d go, ‘Yeah, but you’re a d***.’”
During the press conferences between Hatton and the American, the Mancunian scrapper once stuck on a huge pair of builder’s earphones to block out Mayweather, who branded his rival a “p***y”.

Hatton finally lost his composure with Mayweather during the weigh-in face-off before their clash by making a throat-slashing gesture.
Mayweather went on to dominate Hatton, stopping his welterweight foe in the 10th round. And despite animosity between the pair in the build-up to the fight, the Hitman was full of respect for Mayweather as a fighter.

"He knew when to put his foot on the gas a little bit, when to soak it up a little bit, let me blow myself out, let the storm blow itself out a bit and then put his foot on the gas. I would go as far and say a genuis, absolutely great."
