Eddie Hearn reveals target date for Anthony Joshua to fight Tyson Fury

Eddie Hearn is targeting a December date for Anthony Joshua’s unification fight against Tyson Fury and is aiming for a deal to be agreed within the next three months.

After reclaiming his four heavyweight titles by beating Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia in December, Joshua is now scheduled to fight Kubrat Pulev, the IBF’s mandatory challenger, on June 20.

Fury, meanwhile, will be occupied this summer with a third fight against Deontay Wilder after he beat the Bronze Bomber to win the WBC heavyweight title in Las Vegas last month.

And Hearn is ‘almost certain’ an agreement will be reached before either Fury or Joshua next step into the ring.

‘It’s amazing times for heavyweights,’ Hearn told iFL TV.

‘In terms of Joshua and Fury, those conversations have been ongoing with myself and Bob Arum where I think there’s a deal to be done now for the winners of those fights.

‘I’m almost certain that before those two fights take place there will be a deal in place for the winners to fight in December.

‘There’s no excuse why there shouldn’t be.

‘I think at the moment all those conversations are good.

‘I don’t want to focus too much on it for AJ because we know what happened last time when all we would talk about is Deontay Wilder and the undisputed fight.

‘You can slip up at any time. Joshua could slip up against Pulev, Fury could slip up against Wilder, so those guys have got to stay focused, let’s get the deal in place, let them have their summer fights, December, all the belts, undisputed, it’s an absolute must.’
