Former world’s strongest man Eddie Hall attempted to break UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou’s record for the ‘hardest punch on the planet’ in a recent YouTube video.

Using technology created by PowerKube, Ngannou set the record in 2017 at the UFC performance institute. The now-UFC champion was then 10-1 as a professional fighter and recorded a punch of 129,161 units, passing the previous record set by kickboxer Tyrone Spong.

Hall introduces the video alongside an expert from PowerKube, who tells the 2017 world’s strongest man that an average person would score around 15,000 units and a good heavyweight would hit between 60,000 and 70,000 units.

After discussing some of the finer details of the machine, Hall briefly warms up and starts hitting the punching bag. While Ngannou elected to stand in front of the machine and fire his right hand, Hall took a run up and threw a very loopy punch.

Regardless of his technique, Hall recorded a number of seriously impressive scores. His highest, 113,999, was just 13% less than Ngannou’s record, something that Hall was extremely proud of.

“That was a bit of fun. Ten percent off the world's hardest punch, that we know of,” Hall began.

Do you think Eddie Hall will break Francis Ngannou's record for the world's hardest punch? Let us know in the comments section below.

“I'm not saying Francis has one hundred percent got the world's hardest punch, but he's got the recorded world's hardest punch so that's all we've got to go by and I'm ten percent off it.

"And I think I can improve on that, you know, coming in fresh – I haven't got the technique Francis has at all.

“It took me fifty to sixty shots to sort of get warmed up, get that calibre, get the swing, get the accuracy.

"So now I know what I'm doing I think I could come back and I think I could probably smash that. Obviously, words are cheap – get it down."

Eddie Hall is set to return to action later this year in a boxing match against Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson.

The bout, dubbed the heaviest boxing match in the sport's history, is expected to take place on September 18 in Las Vegas.
