Claressa Shields rips into boxer for leaking sparring clip with chilling threat
Claressa Shields has called out her male counterpart Rolly Romero after the latter sent the former messages after a video of her getting dropped to the mat by Artutus Ahmetovs in 2018 surfaced on social media. Although Romero posted his support on social media as well, Shields called him out for allegedly using the video as a means to raise his standing in the boxing world.
“And Rolly, next time I see you, you can get your m********king dukes up because I’mma punch the f*** out of your ass because whenever I see you in person, you bow down and you be respectful,” Shields said on Instagram Live Monday. “That’s peroid.
“But then you wanna come in my inbox, talking about somebody hating on you – don’t flatter yourself. Is you stupid? Hating on Rolly. You sound stupid.”
Shields then continued to criticize Romero’s boxing path, explaining how she and any of her contemporaries, along with any male fighter, could beat him in the ring.

“So Rolly while your punk ass came to my inbox, I will square up with you and whopp your ass. Literally,” Shields continued. “I will come to TMT gym and literally put my hands on you. I will embarrass you, with all that power you got, I will embarrass you.”
Romero’s comments seemingly were coming from a place of support, as he sent Shields a message on Instagram, per Fight Sports. “I’m happy I KO’d this mf. He shouldn’t be putting his hands on women like that” Then, Romero posted on X (formerly Twitter): “I took it down, wish you nothing but the best. I don’t [want] no problems.”
This situation began when Ahmetovs posted a clip of him flooring Shields with a left hook during a sparring session. Once the clip caught the attention of boxing fans and Shields, the undisputed middleweight champion fired back at Ahmetovs, claiming the Latvian took padding out of his gloves.

Ahmetovs’s coach, Derik Santos, responded to Shields’ assertions about what happened and offered his side of the story on Instagram.
“She is full of s*** they asked for help to spar why would want to spar a woman? [sic]” Santos’ statement began. “No one took padding out of the gloves. After she was accusing of this, the gloves were handed to her coach. But more importantly she sparred two rounds prior where the Artur was instructed not to hit her hard, while he was working with her she started talking mad s*** at him and fouling him to point she tripped him.”
Santos added that at this point, Ahmetov himself was confused by what was happening and so Santos told Ahmetov to stop holding back and fight like their sparring session was an actual fight. It was then that Ahmetov knocked down Shields and then attempted to help her back up.
“Even though all the comments of she would beat a guy, nothing was said derogatory towards her or spoken of this moment,” Santos continued. “That was done out of respect for her and nothing to be gained out of what happens in a sparring.”
