Cyclist Remco Evenepoel covered in blood from crashing into woman after finish
Remco Evenepoel was left a bloodied mess after colliding with a woman following a stage at one of the world’s most prestigious cycling races.
Evenepoel had just crossed the finishing line after winning stage three at the La Vuelta a Espana, but was still travelling at high speed downhill as he headed towards a gaggle of officials and media personnel.
While many people scattered, Evenepoel – the defending champion – made heavy contact with one onlooker, with the pair clashing heads. The Belgian star was left in a heap on the floor with blood pouring from his head.
After being helped to his feet, Evenepoel slammed the officials and called for safety to be improved for both riders and spectators. He fumed: “[It is] an issue with safety for the third day in a row, now – it's a bit breaking my balls now."

On winning the stage, which saw him retain the leader’s red jersey, the Soudal–Quick Step rider added: “It was the perfect tactics from us to just be patient, to wait.
“I felt good on the final climb and then went for a long final sprint. I'm super happy with this victory.
